...on a snowy evening, with Mr. Robert Frost ~ 1923
{American farmer/philosopher/poet}
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Until tomorrow, dear friends.
May all your travels be snowy ~ God willing.

Beautiful....one of my favorite Frost poems - and you set it to some amazing photos my friend. Gorgeous....(Pretty awesome header photo too....) Hugs & Blessings ~ Robin
Just beautiful...I love your pics and the poetry of course! Merry Christmas....looks you will have a white one....
Again~ beautiful Sherry!! It makes me long to get out on my horses, in the woods . . . but no snow here, and no hopes of it before Christmas either. I once met a descendant of Robert Frost's (grandson/nephew I think ??).
I enjoy his poetry; probably because I can relate to his love of nature and can envision the woods he's standing in.
And, like the CrankyCrow, I like your new header too~ the photos always make me stop and look closer to see/feel what you captured in your lens:))
Thank you friends ~ I used a couple snow pictures from past winters, but we do have snow now. A covering that appears to be staying. I just strapped a pair of Yaktrax (for traction) on my boots yesterday before heading into the snowy slippery dog yard. Winter is here! Merry Christmas everyone. :~)
P.S. Thank you for the comments on the "header" too. That was a VERY cold morning. Our boy, Raz, was warming his muzzle on Russ' hot coffee cup!
What a lovely setting for this beautiful poem! Your horses are really enjoying their frolic in the snow.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
I had to dig down deep and go waaay back to recall that poem! It has been so long ago that I read it! It was all the more lovely with your wintry photos. Thank you for sharing it.
Christmas Blessings!
Beautiful photos, and the only poem that I know by heart!
What absolutely beautiful photos! And thanks for connecting them to a classic...
