Antsy Equine

I love our Mustang beauty.

Nauish
(Pronounced Now-eesh)

Even if he is impatient to leave on an adventure.

Until next time, dear friends.

God willing.

Split Passion (Horses and Sled Dogs)

This spring, things are different.

Russ and I are both on fire about training.

Him...horses.

His passion.

We toyed with getting down to one horse, which was a painful discussion.

Our reason was, Russ is the only one that rides.
Why have two?

But now, the reason is clear.

Our Mustang, Nauish (Now-eesh), belongs here.

He's an awesome horse.  No bad habits.
Trained (Parelli) by excellent local horse trainers,
sisters, Staci and Mandy, who have trained Mustangs their entire lives.

And, most of all, we love him dearly.

To celebrate our decision to pull ads and commit to a lifetime of Nauish,
hubby Russ built two hitchin' posts and saddle stands.

They will come in handy as Russ plans for his 30-day trip by horseback this summer.
A trip with him riding Raz, and ponying Nauish.
Or vice versa.

Joined by our good farm friends,
who have always made our place a stop on their rides in previous summers.

What an adventure that will be...for them.

And for me...left behind.

For I have a new excitement too.

I'm training lead dogs daily.

I have never been so excited to see a group of youngsters step up into their new roles.

Especially Malakai, who is doing amazing in lead.

And Skunky Monkey...

As long as the temps hold,
and remain cool enough,
we're making it a part of our morning chores.

The oldsters, Windows (pictured below) and Star...(pictured above), in lead.

...teaching the youngsters.

As it should be.

Until next time folks, God willing.

And have a blessed Easter, for our Redeemer lives!!

March... the Lamb cometh

I think my brain is finally catching up with my surroundings.

March started out like a lion...

...an angry lion.

But now...sultry, summer days have hit our "40".

85 degrees, over and over.

Days of Mustang training in the round pen now.

I'm enjoying this brief break in the chores.

For soon, it will be a "party of one"...
as hubby Russ and Raz head out on a 3-week trail ride.

I'm excited for them.

And for the opportunity for me to "hold down the fort".

I hope you are enjoying seeing March come to a close,
and summer follow suit.

Until tomorrow, dear friends. God willing.

New Shoes

Guess which "boy" is getting new shoes?

I'll give you a clue...it's the teenager of the bunch.

Earlier in the week, our farrier, Bruce, came out to trim our 3 horses.

Raz, Nauish and Buck.

It was windy and cold, and the horses wanted to cuddle.

Bruce comes on a regular basis, scheduled every 6 weeks.

Perhaps I should have told Russ he had a nibbler behind him...
no surprise...
Nauish is so tactile.

We knew Buck, who is getting into his late teens,
might be ready for his first set of shoes.

He was...

So, the teenager is going to get new shoes for spring trompin'...

I bet he'll make sure everyone knows he's special ~ he always does.

See how Nauish ("Now-eesh", our black Mustang)
behaved in the early days with Bruce...click it

That youngster has come a long way...

Until tomorrow, God willing, and wonderful.

The Black

Russ now simply refers to Nauish (Now-eesh) as...

"The Black".

Whereas, I refer to him as...

My Beauty.

Our horses provide us with such joy...
