day by day,

abiding in the Lord's desire.

Autumn Amish Yearnings

It's true.  

This time of year, I get restless...

Not for just anywhere.

But to head to all things Amish.

It's a dull tug on my heart.

To be where simplicity, travel by horse, and the word of God is spoken freely.

I'm not looking for fancy.

But rather, what I'm used to living like...rustic.

But for now, I'll stay on our 40, until the next time I venture out.

Out among the Amish.

Being In the World, but not Of the World

There's ways to achieve this...

First, you can hide.

Or you can run.

Or... you can turn to Jesus for everything.  

Every day.

Every waking moment.

James 1:27   ..."and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

Slip your hand into His...and your walk will become lighter.

My Bliss is Here...My Time is Now

I happened to find this Blog I had written a year ago, almost to the day.

It brought me full circle, seeing that my time has indeed come.

I am now, like Tatonka, free to roam.

Our Greatest Joy

We've been doing a lot of talking these last couple weeks. 

Russ and I.

And we've come to the conclusion we love seeing the joy on children's faces when learning.

Especially with the animals.

Children do not fear.

They listen intently to instruction.

Their glee is evident.

They are strong.

Sometimes stronger than adults.

And the animals respect them.

Adore them.

And their touch is gentle and kind.

Because of this, we are looking at changes in the way we do our business.

The business of providing bliss on the back of a dog sled.

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones.

For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in Heaven."

Matthew 18:10

Less is More ~ Tale of a 4-dog Team

It's true.

Four sled dogs could take you 'round the world.

And back.

You need leaders with brains and dedication.

Who love spending time with you.

Those who may be little, but oh-so-mighty.

And those who have the soul of a sled dog.

We are blessed to have 5 such 4-dog teams.

It is purely our pleasure to care for them while on this earth.

1/3 Living (Intro)

The time has come. 

All the cliche's are coming to life...put your money where your mouth is...Follow your Bliss...you can't take it with you. 

It's time to get real.  It's time to live raw.  Closer to nature than we have ever been before.  Eating what we produce, raise or hunt.  Experiencing horse travel in summer and dog travel in winter.  Living frugal, minimal and mindful.

Ever since I submitted my early retirement, it feels like I'm swimming up stream.  Most folks would love to have my State government job.  Good benefits and more.  So why would I give up a good-paying stable job, to live on 1/3  of our current income?  Simple.  Freedom.

We've been living "simply" for quite some time now.  Nearly a decade.  Our main cabin is 15 x 20.  We don't sport a kitchen table.  We have managed without a fridge, or a stove.  No T.V. coverage.  No indoor bathroom. 

However, we do have a wood stove, from which all our heat emanates.  No back up. 

We have a few solar lights and fence chargers for our livestock. 

Between the two of us we have managed with one vehicle for years.  One cell phone, that we rarely use. 

So now, we are moving even further away from consumerism.  From the conveniences of modern day life.  Am I scared?  In a word, no.  I'm excited.  For quite some time I've felt that a simpler life also means less money.  And vice versa.  Take a closer look at those man-made greenbacks...In God We Trust.  And truthfully, it's not our money to begin with.  It is His.

This will truly be a challenge.  To live mindfully.  To cherish and honor each simple task, each day.  To put our lives in God's hands.

Follow along.  It's going to be quite the journey.  1/3 living...

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 

Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
