Two Weeks Today

These last few weeks, I have felt like the elusive coyote.

Trotting around the perimeter of the action, but not making a move.
Frozen.
Unable to tend to my writings.

Truth is, I've never been busier in my life.
Sweat, aches, bruises, exhaustion.
For I'm now "running the show" at our farm and kennel.

Russ is out of commission,
due to his riding accident two weeks ago, and barely able to use crutches.

Our world is different now.
For Russ, it is accepting the pain, constant bed rest and time needed to mend.

For me, it is becoming a farmer, and all it encompasses.
Plain and simple.

Instead of being behind the camera, I'm there, in the trenches.
And, let me tell you...there's a beauty so raw, so real,
it's almost too difficult to write about.

But I'll try.

Stay tuned.  As we begin our 3rd week with Russ healing.
And me helping.
As any help meet would do.

And the LORD God said,
"It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him."
Genesis 2:18

Please feel free to add us to your prayer list for Russ' healing,
as we listen to God's word, and do his work.
Hour by hour, day by day.

Until tomorrow, Lord willing.

Praying and may the Lord bless with speedy recovery for Russ and give you strength for the farm chores, if He pleases.

You are all in my prayers. I can only think of the few times Geoffrey has left the farm for business and after 3 days boy was I ready for him to come home!

A swift recovery for Russ and for you to not be the only caretaker of your wonderful crew!

I said a prayer for you. I know how hard it is to try to get it all done like the man of the house would. My husband's back went out the day after I had my son a few years back. He was in so much pain, I remember looking out and seeing him lying in the yard, halfway up to the barn. I couldn't stand it; I went out and tried to do the chores for him. After a few times, I had to call my parents b/c I almost hemoraged, and then my parents and his took turns coming over for us for a few days. We had to learn to rely on them to get the jobs done. It was one of the hardest times in my life: to see my husband so helpless, and feel so much like I couldn't be of help! Praying God will continue to give you the strength.

You are on my prayer list..Along with the pain Russ is having, watching you do the work must be very difficult for him. And you doing a mans work...well, a woman can be more than willing to do it but we are not built like a man. I will pray that someone comes to give you a hand. xxoo

Praying for a speedy recovery - for you both. May His plan for this be open to all.

I know you can do it. We are more capable of things than we think. Unfortunately it takes an accident or some other life altering event for us to realize just how strong and capable we are. I have been there my friend and you are strong and can do anything. Good luck and take care. B

All of you are so dear to me. Thank you for your responses. I'm slow in getting back to you, as I've had little time, and my computer was very slow in responding to commands. That is all changed now. And Russ is up and moving. We truly felt bathed in your prayers. Farmer's Wyfe - you nailed it. The first couple days, I truly didn't have the strength...to haul buckets, climb over fences, I was weak. It was very tough. And it was tough running back to make sure Russ had everything he needed. Sherri B. - although we had folks offer to come help, I felt it was important that we/I know exactly what I can handle. I need to know I can do this long term, should the need arise. I found I can. Barely. It's tough...just the 23 dogs alone keep me hoppin'. Thank you again...you are wonderful, Godly, Blog friends who brighten my day.
