David

Kahlil Gibran
The Prophet, On Children

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, and yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

Goodbye David ~ We'll miss you.

We love you,
Nana Shey Shey and Papa Russ

David, our grandson ~ the little Woodsman.
He left Michigan this week to go back "home" to California with his folks.

This visit...record winds.  Last visit...record low temps.

Michigan Winds

Does anyone know where the love of God goes...

When the waves turn the minutes to hours.

My Little Woodsman

Our little grandson, David, came to Michigan this week.

He was last here two years ago.

Zip knew he was a very special visitor,
all the way from southern California.

Buck knew too...

But didn't feel like being ridden that day.

So we went to the safest, most dependable steed on the property.

Fast Daddy.

Faster...

FASTER!!

Pure Bliss...

Papa Russ also brought in 2 of the 6 new chicks (with a chunk of apple)
so David could feel their fluffy newness and hear their chirps.

With David, even sitting on a rocking swing with his folks is joyful.

Papa Russ remarked at how quickly David learned to steer the tractor.

Pretty tall order for a little guy who is not yet three.

But he's David ~ our little Woodsman
And he's taking after his father in his boyhood delights.

I truly sense David is on a mission in life.

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.  1 Timothy 4:12

A Win-Some Adventure

As the sun came up last Wednesday,
I knew it was going to be a special day.

It was going to be a day spent in child-like wonder.

Driving north, boarding a boat and heading to beautiful "horses only" Mackinac Island.

With a beautiful, Godly person, both inside and out.

And my "mother-in-love" Sue, who loves the Lord with all her heart.

We saw and heard many beautiful songs and testimonies.

Fernando Ortega, Don Piper, Lauren Winner, Anne Beiler and more...

And reflected on our lives.

The Island will do that to you...

Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.  Isaiah 42:12

The Grand Hotel was the perfect place to do so.

Fellowship of like-minded "win-some" women.

Gourmet meals.

Sue is wearing her Ask Me About Jesus t-shirt, created by my son and his amazing cohorts.

Beautiful views.

Yes, time failed to stand still.

And it was soon time to shove off again and head for the main land.

And carry our memories home.

Back to a simpler, but no less beautiful, place.

For Ang, home is Maple Valley off-grid Farm.

Filled with family, hard work, and the love of Jesus.

Led by husband and father, the Gentle Giant.

Until next year...when I return to Win-Some Women again,
for my 13th year.

God willing.

Mackinac (Island) in da Moonlight

It's true.

I'm off from work the next couple days
for an amazing mini-vacation up north with a couple adventurous gals.

My Mother-in-Love, Sue.

And a "parallel friend" (aka Kindred Spirit...) Homemaker Ang.

As we head to Win-Some Women at the Grand Hotel.

We've got a date with the Holy Spirit!

This Little Piggy...

It's hard to believe it's only been 7 weeks since these little buggars were born.

The last 3 left yesterday.

Until next time...I love my pig litters.
