The Circle of Life

It's hard to believe...

These little guys and gals will be leaving for a new home.

I love raising pigs...

Sign of the Times

This sign on my farm friend's fence brought a chuckle.

Not that AC Ellen needs the warning or protection of a sign.

She's surrounded by dogs that love her...

And love their life on Serendipity Ranch.

From Slow to Slower ~ Retirement

I'm free.
Retirement...
freedom...
leisure time.
Time to rest and reflect.

Am I worried?
No.
God's got my back.

Anyone who knows me knows how I have desired to be home, on our farm.

To spend my days with Russ, our animals, and our precious land.

I'll never have to leave in the morning...

And to me, that's pure Heaven.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have,
because God has said,
"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Hebrews 13:5

The Promise

Let Him have all your worries and cares,
for He is always thinking about you
and watching everything that concerns you.

1 Peter 5:7

My husband, Russ, has that peace.

And assurance.

Perhaps one day I'll learn to relax and let go.

And look to Him for all the answers.

Ushering in Autumn

Mother Nature is smiling.

It makes sense that the first day of Fall...

Is on the eve of a Full Moon.

Welcome Autumn...

And farewell summer...until next year.

God willing.

New Bunnies at the Cabin

Like clockwork, a new crop emerges.

We love our free-range bunnies.

Early Morning Eye Opener

I had to blink twice this morning as I headed out to the frosty outhouse.

Raz, the largest of our three horses, was standing just beyond, munching on some spent corn stalks.

I shook my head and smiled, then he took a few steps and galloped off ~ to Russ ~ who was across the property.

Russ gently led him back into the fencing with his two awaiting buddies and repaired the fencing flaw.

Still groggy, I shook my head and completed my trek, wondering if I was awake or dreaming.

Why Facebook is like my Sled Dog Kennel

Most folks come to Facebook because they are curious.

And they want to connect with old friends.

And perhaps meet up with a whole bunch of new friends.

They are happy folks, who enjoy their 'puters.

And, they like to "chew the fat", as they say.

Some folks don't say much ~ they simply ride on the backs of others.

Some of the older and wiser and more wordly, don't care for such things.

Sometimes discussions get heated.

Because folks care and are truly passionate about their beliefs.

But we are all friends who support each other and pull together.

There's also the shy types, who watch and learn.

Quietly ~ from a distance.

Yes, Facebook reminds me of my sled dog yard.

A place where dogs love to work and play and relax.

A place where a kind gesture is acknowledged and appreciated.

Until tomorrow ~ truly God willing,

The Cow-less Cowboy

On Saturday, our cows will be leaving.

Sweet Dixie, who we bought as a baby, over 5 years ago.

Dudley, who we bought as a baby over 4 years ago.

And newcomer Duchess, a sweet girl and good Mama.

And Buttercup, who is expecting a calf this Fall for the very first time.

It's not going to be easy, seeing them get loaded up and drive away.

They become a part of you, of who you are.

I'll miss the new crop of calves...

But little Sizzler will be staying.

I'm sure the goats will welcome him into the fold.

It will be an adjustment, but we'll manage.

And I'm pretty sure you can still be a cowboy, even if you don't have a cow.
