Holiday Farm Chores

Christmas day, away from home visiting family, I thought of Russ.
He stayed back.  He stayed home.

Family gatherings and farm chores don't always mix.

This year, it was no different.

I used to question.

But no more.

I understand the need for structure.

The need for consistency.

Our animals thrive on it.

And the rewards are given back...

Tenfold.

Happy New Year to all our friends.

Those of you who visit this daily snippet of our lives, do understand.

And know the pleasure of living simple.

And living with less.
Which, in the end, is so much more...

Best wishes for the New Year...!

Happy 2011.

Personally, I think Russ got a good deal, staying home. I'd find it hard to leave all that too!
A very Happy New Year to all of you-including your wonderful furry friends!

Grace ~ I was just thinking about you yesterday~! Happy New Year to you also. Sue ~ I LOL when I read this. I think he does too...especially when I return with a truckload of leftover goodies. ;) Since we added the farm animals years ago, we seldom both leave our place at the same time. And never overnight. It's just our style. Happy New Year!

My Rick has morphed into the stay-at-home person in our duo. The more he stays home, when I go off galavanting around the state, the harder it is to get him to leave hometown AT ALL. I hear 'ya...

Many, many congrats and envy for your retirement. I know you earned this many times over, dealing with the raw reality of Michigan's downturn every day of your career with DHS.

Oops, forgot to wish you a Happy Anniversary! It seems like I have known you longer than that!

Rick and I will be 30 years this month...where did all that time go?

Thank you FC and Mumsie. :) Linda ~ LOL...I met you on my "honeymoon", up at the Two-Hearted River during that horrendously bitter dogsled race. You remember...you looked perfect, while I was literally a popsicle. :) I think Russ and Rick have a lot in common. The hat thing, for one. Congrats on your 30 years coming up! Thank you for the congrats on the retirement too ~ yes, I'm very happy to be "home" and living a much quieter/simpler life. :)

Thank you, Sherry, for all your gorgeous photos and for reminding us to live more simply... our lives can become a rat race, trying to keep up, if we don't consciously take stock of what is important in our lives.

Happy New Year!
