3 Months, 3 Weeks, 3 Days and 3 in the Morning

According to an old farmer's adage, that is the gestation rule of thumb for pigs.

Our gal, Sookie, delivered Monday night...after almost 4 months of waiting.

It's a small, but mighty litter.  Her first.

And she's a good Mama...

The papa, Jackson, is now a "proven" boar.

And happy about his role in life.

Soon, they will be reunited again, and the circle of life will continue.

Jackson is a good boar, gentle and kind.

"Nothing is so strong as gentleness and nothing is so gentle as real strength."

Sherry,

Looking at the pictures you have shared, took me back to my own country when my late grandmother raised them.

They were like family, yet I knew, that at the end of the season, butchering will begin and we will be set for a whole year on good meat :)

Be blessed...and it is good to meet you!

I love pigs. We've hand raising a litter. Their mom got mastitis and her milk dried up. We were gifted the pigs at 3 days old. It's been fun.

Thanks for coming over my way and leaving your calling card on my followers list. You have an interesting blog, lovely animals and great photography and I'd like to follow you. I love that you say you are God-sufficient and not self-sufficient. Isn't that so true! We can do nothing, we can be nothing without Him.

Thank you Sherri B. I'm winding my way to your Blog also. :) Limette, I too love piglets ~ good luck! Pilgrim's Cottage ~ you are most welcome. I normally don't respond in the way I did, but I am truly tired of seeing this type of nastiness in the world. It's uncalled for. Thank you for finding your way to my Blog...and yes, I too love the God-Sufficient tag...I thought of it one night at Bible study at our place. To HIM be the Glory!

Thank you Terri ~:) Russ actually made that design for our herd of Dexter cows, as a feeder. We sold our cows last fall, and thought the feeder would make a good shelter from rain for the summer, if one side were protected from West winds. We plan to place a barrel up top for H2O, with a nipple feeder. :)
