I have a big lump in my throat...Thank you for sharing this, I need to know that there are still people like you out there. Our flag stays up with a spot light on it. xo
Thank you ladies. It was actually an emotional experience, as the previous flag (which was given to me upon my Father's death) was torn in high wind gusts earlier in the week. Taking it down, and putting up new, brought a flood of emotion of how many men and women have fought (and shed blood) for the right to fly this beautiful symbol. And I love my husband for being such a God loving, protector - of me, all others, and our liberty.
It was the first thing I learned to say in English when I arrived in this country. It means everything to me to see the flag waving in the breeze...it represents freedom from oppression..
Oh my-this is an incredible-beautiful post! Thank you so much for the wonderful photos and for your husband for putting such loving care into this flag raising. Bless you both and all the men and women who have served our country bravely.~~Rain
Thank you Maria and Rain, for your very kind words. My husband also served (Army), and I lived 3 years as an Army wife near base...so we know the hardships and honor that is attached to the Flag. I love hearing it flutter and flap in the dark, as I head to the rustic outhouse in the middle of the night.
I just asked my 16 year old step son if he knew the Pledge of Allegiance. He didn't know every word. How sad.
I can see a pop quiz coming often. I am amazed at what he hasn't learned from his public school education. Things have changed since I was in school...
